Yashodabai Joshi is the founder of the Vanita Samaj in India. The society works for the upliftment of women in India The book is her autobiography depicting the life and times in India during her struggle for independence.
Lady Yashodabai was a dame of a typical maratha clan and a woman much ahead of her time. she was literate and knew English language which was a grand achievement at that time. she is secular and courageous and is disdainful of casteism. she died at the age of 81. during her last days, she wrote her autobiography in marathi language. The book was translated by Vijay Kumar Bhide, her grandson who retired from the Indian Army as a Major General.
